Award Winners 2025

Award Winners for 2025 are

Sailor of the Year  Marianne Lueking 
The award is for the sailor who has made the best progress in the year. 
Paddle Boarder of the Year Jill Wallace 
Youth Sailors of the Year Frank Weldon and Josh George –
For their help with youth sailing courses. In Spring Frank and Josh qualified with the Club as Assistant Sailing Instructors.
Youth Racer of the Year – Seb Hollows
Seb started racing with the club this summer, winning two races when crewing with his uncle and managing to un-reef a sail during a race whilst sailing with a friend. 
Volunteer of the Year – Matthew Townsend
For helping with Killington Club Nights and the Safety Boat Rota

Winner of Race Series – Loz Colyer. Loz came top of the race series winning two races and second in a third. Rod Scott came second in the series. Other race winners included Mike Thomas, his nephew Seb Hollows, Martin Metecalfe and Ian Mason.

Loz with racing trophy – Wrightson Plate

The Wrightson Plate is one of the Sailing Club’s oldest trophies being donated to the club in 1959 by Jack Wrightson, a decorative silver craftsman who lived at Swinton near Manchester. Jack as well as being a member of Arnside Sailing Club was Commodore of Lowton Sailing Club, which is now part of Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club.
